Whitney is an individual who is personally affected by the devastation of addiction. She has been working in the substance abuse industry for over a decade. In 2011 she began volunteering at the Florida Association of Recovery Residences (FARR). After witnessing her strong ethical values, organizational skills, and passion; the FARR board hired Whitney in the role of Certification and Compliance Administrator. Whitney has worked tirelessly to raise the standards of quality care in recovery residences. She works closely with law enforcement agencies and local governments to eliminate “bad actors” to improve outcomes for individuals affected with substance use disorder. Whitney has worked in the substance abuse treatment industry for over 15 years, she is an advisory board member of the Florida Certification Board (FCB), a participating member of the State Attorney’s Sober Home Task Force and provides consultation to numerous state agencies.
Heidi Matheny has an Associate degree in Accounting and Business Administration, she continues to pursue her Bachelor’s in Human Services. Heidi considers herself a lifetime student and recently became a Certified Integrative Nutrition Holistic Health and Wellness expert. She has over 25 years work experience in such organizations as the Palm Beach County Clerk and Comptroller’s office to Dress for Success Palm Beaches as the Operations Manager. During this time she discovered her, true desire is to help others and serve the community in which she was born and raised.
Heidi has decades of experience with substance use disorder, both as a family member and a person in long term recovery herself. Her experience proves to benefit the concerned family members struggling to find safe housing for their loved ones and the individual looking for a safe place to heal and recover.
Heidi is an advocate for the recovery community. She has had many public speaking engagements for charity events where she has openly shared her experience, strength and hope to open the minds of our community and bring awareness that substance abuse does not discriminate and no matter how far down…recovery is possible. Heidi continues to be an active alumni member of the oldest women’s treatment center in Palm Beach County, sharing with other women what has been so freely shared with her.
