Steve holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. He has worked as a Technical Writer, publishing maintenance manuals for the Space Shuttle and the U.S. Air Force B-1 Bomber. He served the United States Navy as a Naval Aviator. Leaving active duty of six years, he worked as an Intelligence Analyst for the Naval Reserves, while completing post-graduate work with the Naval War College.
In November 2017, he left his twenty-year tenure working in Quality Control Administration for an aircraft parts manufacturer to accept the position as the Executive Director of the Florida Association of Recovery Residences.
Steve began his personal recovery and has maintained his sobriety since 1989. His recovery path prioritizes helping others with their recovery. Steve has a passion for supporting recovery events and promoting hope within the recovery community.
With three decades of service to the recovery community, Steve is attempting to have a voice in the opioid epidemic and with the mission of providing a constructive path for the promotion of legitimate recovery residence providers and protect their interests from the negative effects of unethical providers.
Whitney is an individual who is personally affected by the devastation of addiction. She has been working in the substance abuse industry for over a decade. In 2011 she began volunteering at the Florida Association of Recovery Residences (FARR). After witnessing her strong ethical values, organizational skills, and passion; the FARR board hired Whitney in the role of Certification and Compliance Administrator. Whitney has worked tirelessly to raise the standards of quality care in recovery residences. She works closely with law enforcement agencies and local governments to eliminate “bad actors” to improve outcomes for individuals affected with substance use disorder. Whitney has worked in the substance abuse treatment industry for over 15 years, she is an advisory board member of the Florida Certification Board (FCB), a participating member of the State Attorney’s Sober Home Task Force and provides consultation to numerous state agencies.
