Orlando 08/09/2014 – The Florida Association of Recovery Residences (FARR), with support from the Florida Alcohol & Drug Abuse Association (FADAA), held our first annual conference as a full day FADAA preconference workshop on Tuesday, August 5th 2014 at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando, FL. This event was a major undertaking for this three year old association that is dedicated to attracting Florida Recovery Residences, IOP and Primary Care service providers in support of set of standards first introduced by the National Alliance for Recovery Residences (NARR).Over one hundred attendees traveled from every region of our state to participate in this gathering, including owners, operators and management from over fifty unique recovery residence programs who monitor over 150 homes serving approximately 1,250 Floridians in early recovery from addiction. Though the day was long and the presenters covered a wide array of complex topics, the late afternoon energy remained high. The conference, made possible by the continuing support FADAA and the financial backing of FARR Partners in Excellence, provided this sector with its first opportunity here in the State of Florida to gather together in unified pursuit of a singular purpose: improving the quality of care for persons in need of supportive housing while building their recovery foundation.

The FARR Advisory Board is grateful to all attendees, exhibitors, certified residences, applicants for certification, partners in excellence and friends of FARR who contributed to the success of this event and wishes to congratulate those who volunteered long hours to pull it all together. Well done!
While by no means a complete list of all the many volunteers who contributed to this success, we wish to recognize Whitney Lehman, FARR Administrator, Jeremy Durrance of Cashbox Solutions and each of the FARR Committee Chairs: Candice Conway, Steve Cooke, Cathy Claud, George Jahn, Jason Leslie and Sharon Burns Carter for their tireless efforts along with FADAA Staff; Mary Booker, Crystal Green, Vanessa Addison, Rebecca Roberts, Angie Durbin and Jill Gran for the generous support. These core contributors made the event a noteworthy reality. Thank you all!
This conference is a launch pad for further initiatives. Please stay tuned for updates and announcements as FARR continues to drive the mission to deliver ethical, quality care to residents of supportive housing who seek to break free from the bondage of addiction and become responsible citizens within the communities they now call home.
