Sharon Burns-Carter has extensive experience working with individuals and families suffering from substance use and related disorders. Her focus is on innovative transitional protocols for clients throughout the continuum of care, as well as ongoing guidance for family members as they heal. In addition to her skilled approach to recovery management, Sharon has extensive experience in program and staff development, serving as an officer and member with advocacy and humanitarian boards focused on recovery from substance use issues.
Currently, Sharon is the Substance Use Outreach Coordinator at Rales Jewish Family Services, raising awareness for the Jewish community in South Palm Beach County. Sharon is also the Experiential Group Facilitator and Recovery Planning Group Facilitator, consulting for Wellness Resource Center in Boca Raton, FL, which she cofounded in 1998.
Sharon received her Certification in Addictions Counseling from Marymount Manhattan College and was trained in Experiential Therapy at On Site Institute. She is a Certified Recovery Residence Administrator in the State of Florida.
On a personal note, Sharon Burns-Carter is a woman in long term recovery and the proud mom of two sons in long term recovery. Sharon believes that peer support, community and service is at the heart of sustained recovery and a fulfilled life.
